These are the best brushes I have ever used! They last forever, you can will them to your grandchildren when you’re gone. The best quality brush you will ever buy. My mother used them, I didn’t think they were fancy enough for me. When I finally had two dollars to rub together, I bought mine and have never regretted it. If you want to take good care of your hair, this is how you do it.
Soft soft bristles for infants only
I have purchased three of these: one for me,One for travel, one for a teen granddaughter. We call these “the magic hair brush”. This is gentle on 70 year old head of hair and somehow seems to add volume while massaging my scalp. Clean as instructed. Do not use on wet hair.
I have had the mason pearson brush for about 2 years now and I absolutely love the mix of boar and nylon in the brush! It holds onto my fine-medium hair beautifully and pulls down any scalp oil at my crown into my ends. I use this on day 1-3 hair only. If I can make it to day 3-4 hair or i use scalp oil I use an inexpesnive boar only brush. The mason pearson brush has rubber on the base that can detiorate over time with xposure to some oils and products.I do baby this brush. I clean it out of any hair every use. I sue the brush cleaning tool about 1x a week and I give the brush a full water and mild soap cleaning 1x every 2 months- being very veyr carful not to get any water into the hole and then letting the brush dry fully.Yes this brush is expensive. Is it worth it? Yes, for me it is worth it. I lose much less hair now with regular use and my har is absolutely looking and feeling more healthy over these 2 years. This feels so good on my scalp and it really pulls down the oils into my medium-long hair mids and ends.
Great product
Worth every penny. My girls hair looks great
Keeps my hair healthy
Lasted 5 years.
Estaba incrédula de lo bien que le haría a mi cabello! No se me cae me da brillo es una excelente inversión. Vale totalmente la pena! Compraré otro para llevarlo conmigo !
The boar bristles really are amazing. My wife can feel the difference with each stroke and it doesn’t cause the frizzy static. She loves it and is thrilled about how well it removes tangles while being the softer bristles.
It’s the best. It’s worth every penny. I lost mine and came to replace it here. It’s more expensive than it used to be but it’s the same quality as I always remember. No pulling, gets through the most tangly hair ever and does not hurt. I missed my brush when it went missing, so much so that I even bought a similar looking white brush on here but it just yanked my hair out and broke my strands. This investment is worth it. Since purchasing my replacement, I found my missing brush. I’m happy to have multiple brushes now because they’re that good and I never want to be without again. It sounds dramatic, but the reviews raving about this are true. So very true. A lot of people say to just buy it. Yes, it’s expensive. But once you get it; you’ll understand.
So I have long (a few inches past my bra) hair that is very thick, and due to several factors, also very fine. This is a nightmare combo for detangling - I have recently been using the "Wet" brand detangling hairbrushes, but it still feels like I am ripping through my hair. Rake combs just don't get in-between the fine hair enough to properly detangle. I'll add in here that my hair & skin are chronically dry, and I seem to always have this section of hair about 3/4 down that is unmanageable, regardless of my split ends. Adding in product helps with detangling, but weighs my hair down.I researched this brand a bit after several friends recommended, and yes, it's more expensive than any hairbrush I've bought, but the company has a solid reputation for quality and it's warrantied for life. I actually found a MP brush in my grandmother's cabinet from decades ago & it's in perfect shape, even after being through dozens of kids & grandkids. This detangling brush goes right through my hair, detangles everything without product, and feels amazing on the scalp (and I have a sensitive scalp that is not a fan of bristly brushes). It's also fantastic for getting all of my hair up in a ponytail or bun (I have other MP brushes now, but this one really grips and holds all of my hair up without having to use any pressure - I smooth with the popular mixture brush after pulling up the hair with this one). I don't blow dry my hair, but I do get a respectable amount of volume when I brush it after it's air-dried a bit as well. The brush is solidly built, appears legit compared to my other MP brushes. The packaging is attractive, they've clearly retained their older branding & it stands out nicely - I'll definitely keep the boxes for travel or storage (also, keep your packaging & receipt because they are lifetime warrantied & you may be asked for it if you request repair/replacement). It comes with a nylon cleaning brush which does seem to work effectively. There was some red residue on the brush from the packaging insert, but it wiped off easily. If you have oily hair, or don't want the natural bristles in the other MP brushes, this would be a great everyday brush. It is enjoyable to use and gets right through my hair without pulling or snagging, whether my hair is wet or dry. It feels solid in my hand and is a handsome brush to look at. My hair is noticeably smoother than even a few days ago with almost no product. I've used cushioned paddle-style brushes before & this definitely has a softer hold. If you do blow-dry your hair, I probably would also incorporate a vented, non-cushioned brush to avoid damaging the MP brush with product or direct heat - but I've also got less need to blow dry after using this one.Overall, I really love this brush. I will probably also buy this for my long & curly-haired niece since it is that gentle of a detangler. The cost is absolutely worth is (as are the more expensive natural-bristled MP brushes), and it's a very effective brush that should last for years. It will need to be properly cared for (it should not be submerged b/c of the vented cushion and exposure to lots of product or heat will degrade the bristles & bed), but that's been the case with any high-quality beauty product. I've since bought other MP brushes & combs and have been similarly impressed.
I was SO reluctant to spend $100 for a hair brush. I consider I take decent care of my hair and buy quality products, I'm in my mid thirties, bleach/dye it on the regular schedule, and use hot tools on it a few times a week to style it. I avoid products where any primary ingredient is alcohol, try to be on schedule with my hair cuts, and wash my hair every other day (or three days) if I can extend it. But sometimes I feel dry shampoo products weigh down my roots, and don't "comb through" my hair enough. And then I used the Mason Pearson brush... WOW.1) I've never had the natural oils from my roots "brush down" into the rest of my hair so easily and help "spread the grease"//make 3rd day hair look less greasy. I can use less dry shampoo, and then when I brush it through my hair, it gives a much more distributed consistency and appeal than ever before2) I have wavy thick hair, falls past my shoulder blades, (as mentioned, bleached, hot tools, etc). It gets knotty after a day of running around the city and because of curls, on occasion I'll get aggressive knots in a bottom layer (feels like a dreadlock forming.) I used to have to pull and pull and tug my entire head in brushing these knots out to be left with a clump in one hand, and a pulled straight hair remaining. Now with the Mason Pearson, somehow with a few strokes, it gets the knot out, keeps curls or wave in my hair. This brush has managed to help me extend my hair between washings, distribute the natural oil of my hair more evenly, and extend my styling during this time. All without being too aggressive while still brushing out knots and tangles.I'll be diligent to take proper care of this brush, but also never not have it on me!
I have fine hair. It really knows how to tangle. I've bee using these brushes for, I don't know, 45 years. They totally detangle, they survive blow drying. I've never had to follow the instructions for cleaning, although you certainly could. I simply pull the extra hair out of the brush, either by just grabbing and pulling or by running a rat-tail spindle or a pencil or any slender object just above the cushion and pulling off any extra hair. Then I just tap the bristles on the counter and bingo! Done. Occasionally - and I do mean occasionally - some hair winds around the handle of the brush and a pair of scissors eliminates the problem with a snip and a pull. I have a small variation for my purse but I have full-sized, white-based versions in both of the bathrooms I use. And these brushes last for well over a decade, closer to 20 years with regular use. In all the time I've had these I've only had one brush that had ANY deterioration and it lost a few bristles on the end but is still usable. No damage to the cushion at all or to the wonderful handle and base. I keep the one missing a few bristles in my suitcase in case I forget to pack one of the ones in my bathrooms. Mason Pearson also makes a version that has actual bristle as well as this plastic fiber bristle. I have found that for truly fine hair this white, plastic bristle brush is the better choice. I blow dry with it with no problems. You can't twirl it really, but it holds hair well as you dry it and you can usually get a very similar effect of turning the ends. Yes, it costs more but it will outlast and outperform an easy dozen other brushes. It has turned what was once regular warfare to a simple, basic and effortless task with no yanking, pulling and screaming.
I purchased the Mason Pearson Handy Mixed Dark Ruby Bristle brush shipped and sold by Amazon. I had previously been using the same $5 drugstore hair brush for about 6 years. I was in the market for a new brush, and my hairdresser had sworn by Mason Pearson. I was really skeptical about the price--a brush is a brush, right? This is the lamborghini of hairbrushes. Considering how much I spend on shampoo, conditioner, products, hair cuts, and color in a given year, this brush is easily worth the investment. It's really gentle on my breakage-prone hair, and leaves my hair (long, straight, usually tangly) looking soft, smooth, and styled all day long.In light of all the bad press Amazon has received for mixing up fake and authentic products, I was concerned about the possibility of purchasing a fake. I purchased this brush for the full price, and wanted to get the real thing. As far as I can tell, it's the real deal. The handle looks black, but is dark ruby red when I hold it up to the light. It's the right size, and there is a hole at the top of the brush opposite the handle. The words on the handle are etched in gold-blocked lettering. The packaging was exactly as expected.
I love this brush. I have very thick, long hair. It is ALWAYS tangled, wet or dry. Before this brush, I just could not keep up with it. Combing my hair was always a painful and time consuming ordeal. With this brush however, my hair is painlessly untangled very quickly. I was hesitant about combing out my wet hair, thinking that like everything else I've tried, it wouldn't work. But it did. Amazingly. What used to take 15 minutes (and a bucket of tears sometimes), now takes less than two and is a downright PLEASURE. I brush my hair twice a day, every day now and I've noticed an improvement in the look and feel of my hair. I was really hurting with the cost, but when you have hair like this, it is practically a necessity. I would've paid that much just to use it once, that's how pleasant it was. My usually cost conscious mother, after watching my brush my hair said, "Where was this 20 years ago when I was having to fight to get a comb through your hair?" and made no comment about the cost. No more tears, no more yanking hair out of my head just to get through a nasty knot. My hair is healthier because I no longer have to fight it, and I am so much happier.3 MONTH UPDATE: I still LOVE this brush. I had gotten my hair cut right after getting this brush and it has kept my hair healthy and soft and has really stretched the effects of a new hair cut.8 MONTH UPDATE: Still in love. Still use it every day. I carry it in my purse even! It's really durable too- I literally toss it in my purse without any protection and the only thing I've noticed is that the gold label is starting to wear off slowly. I've noticed that it traps lint in between the bristles sometimes, but nothing that can't be solved by running the included cleaning brush through it a couple times. It's still as amazing and wonderful as the day I bought it! I never review items, much less update my reviews, but $160 is A LOT to spend on a plastic hairbrush so I want everyone to know it is worth it.
First off, this product description is now confusing: It is labeled as a child's brush. But, the brush that we bought, which shows up in some of the product photos here, is not...My partner wanted a really nice brush and after a bunch of online research, we opted for one of these... Being a Yankee, I was taken aback by the price and what it looked like when it arrived: It didn't look like it was much better than the generic hairbrush that is pervasive in the market. But, we were both surprised by how well it worked... My partner had had high quality brushes in the past and this ranks right up there with them. Even I, who could care less abut such things, really can notice the difference and like it.For folks contemplating buying this one: My partner feels that this model is for people who have really, really thin hair. She feels it's not the right brush for her (she states her hair is thinning with age. I disagree that her hair is thinning, but that's yet another topic... She's 48). I can understand what she's saying as my hair is a little bit thicker and if the brush dug in a little deeper, it would be better. But then again, I just make a few quick swipes so that I don't look like a homeless person before I head out the door.PS: Don't tell my partner that I use her hairbrush....
I thought, a brush that cost $80 bucks - wha?? But there are three girls in this house with lots of hair, so I thought I would try out the detangler. I've heard so much about Mason Pearson brushes from my stylist. And she was correct. It's lovely. It's hard to imagine what a brush would do that would make it so expensive. So I will try to explain.BEFORE: We usually use Goody brushes. We have about a dozen in the house. My daughter gets out of the shower and I hold part of her hair to prevent pulling too hard on her scalp. I take one section at a time and struggle with the knots. The whole process takes about 10 minutes. And it leaves the ends damaged from so much pulling and tearing. I thought: This is just how her hair is and will be for the rest of her life.AFTER: My daughter gets out of the shower. I brush her hair with the detangler. Each sweep of the brush now starts at her scalp, and unexplainably goes all the way down to the end without catching a single knot. Same head of hair. I can not explain it! The brushing takes less than a minute. Her hair is shiny on the top. And unbroken on the bottom. She doesn't mind her hair brushed anymore, in fact I find her sitting on the couch brushing her hair by herself with the Mason Pearson brush. So this is why I gave it five stars. It's transformed our hair brushing process, gives us healthy looking hair, retuns 9 minutes to our day, and makes our relationship a little less stressful each morning. That's worth $80 by itself ;)
So I ordered this brush on Sunday the 24th, and it shipped out the following day, and I received it on Thursday the 28th. I was really happy with the fast shipping. Also I must say, I've only used it for 2 days, and already my hair feels so much healthier than it used to be. I have long (comes to my chest), fine to normal hair, but I ordered the nylon detangler because I wanted to use it on my wet hair after I'd showered. And although I'm not sure how effective it is at detangling my wet hair, I still love to use it because it seems to be really good at distributing the oils throughout my hair. See, my biggest problem was that the roots of my hair were usually oily (and therefore, my hair had no volume), but the ends of my hair were really dry. But when I brush through my hair with this brush, it seems to evenly distribute the oils, leaving my scalp less greasier and the ends of my hair shinier. Also, it may be because it distributes the oils, but my hair feels sturdier and not as fine and delicate as it used to feel. Now, if I just brush it after I shower and leave it to dry for a couple of hours, my hair is all bouncy and looks like I've blow dried styled it. I'm loving my new brush, and I've also already ordered the all boar bristle brush as well, to use on my hair when it's dry and not wet.
