This is our second set! Left 2 at a vacation rental by accident and ordered another set. We've used them for years. They hold up well and are great when you want a nice wine glass that won't break. Everyone comments on the "thumb holder". They have been through the dishwasher multiple time and hold up great!
Perfect size, density of product is good and finger slot is perfect
Excellent, just what we wanted
Comfortable grip, easy to clean. Dishwasher approved! Works with wine, mixed drinks, water, and many other liquids yet to be poured.
Good size and grip. Takes away the worry of breaking a treasured glass through clumsiness.
Very nice. Looks great, holds a lot of wine, and doesn't break.
We have had 2 of a similar wine glass made by the same manufacturer for several years. They look the same but are lighter and the rim is a little rough. These new ones are heavier and the rim is smooth. Instead of just using for outdoor events we are using the both indoors and out because of the thumb notch they are a safer option for arthritis hands to use.
Bought two boxes and haven’t opened in 2 years life is different now
I like these... it says dishwasher safe but I hand wash because I had one and it melted out of shape when I used dishwasher
Nice feel and look, love the thumb notch! They are plastic, but quality seems goodand BPA-free! The test of “clear” will be repeated washings!
Product as described. Great for picnics and outdoor concerts. I used to have a very similar product, and this one has slightly thicker plastic--hopefully making it even more durable. The finger cutouts are helpful for those of us who are clumsy and might otherwise drop a glass of wine here and there.
These are very lightweight even when containing liquid and can easily tip over. The thumb indentation is useful. I have only hand washed them after using
Let's start with the positives--three stars is "right in the middle" i,e, AVERAGE. They're fine. They're "OK." They're not life changing, marvelous, or Have-to-have. But they are cute, clever and different. They're not cheap, either, but not so stupidly expensive that your eyes water in disbelief. What you see in the picture is what you get. What you don't see, though, is that these things are thin and flexible--squeeze the glass and it "deforms" (but pops right back into shape). It's PLASTIC, after all. Soft, flexible plastic. Firmer than plastic wrap, less firm than a Solo cup. It's good plastic, though--it imparts NO flavor to the wine, for those who are sensitive to taste, and it gives the same drinking experience as a glass container. Your biggest challenge is having some boor of a friend or relative toss them in the trash with the Solo cups! You want to hand wash these, unless you turn off the heat in your dishwasher and use a non-etching soap. I've used them five or six times so far, and they still look good.I will say, if the price came down on these, I'd like them a lot more. I really think they're worth, tops, a buck each. If the price came down to that level, I'd add a star. They're certainly a conversation starter, though--a very unusually shaped glass with the little thumb-insert....be the first on your block, etc! If you like being trendy, these might be a fun pick for you.
This is a review for Govino Wine Glasses (Flexible Shatterproof Recyclable). When you have tile floors, a swimming pool, and mischievous fur babies (aka: cats), you want a wine glass that can hold up against all the obstacles. I came across these shatterproof “glasses” by Govino. These are perfect! We use these around the pool. These are also great to travel with. We have taken these along with us several times on road trips. (Who wants to use paper/Styrofoam cups that the hotels supply, when you can use stemless wine glasses!) They have a thumb notch so these fit perfectly in your hands. They hold 16 ounces which is a great size for wine! These are made of plastic, so you will want to avoid the dishwasher and wash these by hand. These are also BPA free! I have also purchased a set of these as a gift and they went over extremely well! Would recommend these as either a Christmas or Host/Hostess gift! Don’t forget these for your next backyard Bar-b-que! You will receive appreciation and compliments on these! (And no broken wine glasses! A win-win!)
I have purchased a few sets of these glasses. I love wine (no wine snobbery here, just really love wine) and I also tend to get loose hands after a glass of wine, or several. I am "that girl" (full grown adult woman) that drops her drink straight from her hand during conversation. Glass wine goblets are not my friend. I have owned the very hard plastic stemless glasses that still crack when dropped and very rubbery, pliable plastic stemless glasses that feel horrible to the mouth and hand.Enter Govino. The plastic is a mid weight with just the slightest bit of give. The cup size fits nicely in my hand and the thumb rest is an added security feature for us glass droppers.I don't follow directions well, so I do wash mine in the dishwasher, which is a no-no. The glasses no longer have a pretty, crystal clear look, but are now hazy and bubbly. They also have bent in and flattened a bit at the mouth. However, if I get them straight out after the dishwasher cycle ends and they are still warm from the dryer, I can squeeze them and they pop back into their shape.I just keep a couple sets on hand that I handwash for company, so I look fancier and use my dishwasher version for when I drink alone, I mean, when I drink a glass of wine at home with my husband.
This is a good substitute for those of us who are naturally klutzy,or have small children, or have pets with long swishing tails in the house. (I fit all three of these categories, so I really needed them!)Cons:*I read other reviews about these being a very thin, flexible plastic, but when they arrived I was still a little surprised at how thin they are. Might get crushed / dented if you were transporting them to a picnic or something.*Some of them have a slightly sharp edge around the lip, and they all have a visible seam on each side of the cup.*They definitely will not "pass" for glass aesthetically.*They also do not stack. Keep this in mind when thinking about storing them. *Cannot be put in the dishwasher. Instructions say hand wash only, so I hand wash them. I used to hand wash my stemware about 90% of the time anyway so it really isn't that big of a deal to me, though these may get water spots from air drying.*Larger than a typical wine glass. (I post this as a "con" but you may find this as a "pro" if you like a larger wine glass.)Pros:*Unbreakable!*Design shape. The thumb ridge is awesome, feels comfortable in hand.*Stemless. I have three small children, and I picked these glasses out not only so that my wine glasses won't shatter all over the floor leaving little shards for tiny feet to walk on, but without a stem they are much more stable on a table top. I am less concerned whether a slight bump into a table will knock red wine all over my tablecloth, carpet, or furniture!I did actually drop one of these glasses (empty) on the kitchen linoleum when I first took them out of the box, and it did indeed bounce up off the floor. Brilliant.Overall, for the price and unbreakability (probably not a word but you know what I mean), I think they're very good. I had been eyeing the Reidel brand stemless glasses when they first became popular but never wanted to pay to invest in a set. I have since seen other cheap stemless plastic cups for cheaper. Bummer. Those might crack when dropped on the floor too but who knows. If these were cheaper, I would have given them 5 stars.
This was my 3rd purchase of these so that alone says how much I like them! I originally purchased them because they were recommended to me by a teacher of a wine class I took. They are perfect for any place that does not allow glass but you want to enjoy your wine or for any clumsy guests you have. Other plastic wine glasses I have purchased were made of thick, hard plastic. This does not allow for the correct delivery of the wine to your palette. These are not Riedels but for what they were designed for they are perfect! The plastic is nice and thin. It is flexible so I don’t have to worry about the plastic cracking like harder plastics. The thumb notch is a nice touch and helps them from slipping.I have bought 2 sets for myself and 1 set as a gift. My first set was bought 2 years ago – I’ve used them extensively and they are holding up great!WARNING: They are NOT dishwasher safe. I don’t have a dishwasher so I don’t see this as a downside, but I know others might.
I saw these advertised in a magazine and thought I'd give them a try. They'd be great to take to the pool. The glass looks great. The thumb notch is very comfortable and ingenious. My only complaint about the product is the plastic is very thin. That's good for the environment, but I was expecting more heft and rigidity. The seam from the mold is visible at the bottom of the glass, somewhat ruining the illusion that it's crystal. I was expecting something a little more elegant.Another issue is the price. They are washable and reusable, so the roughly $13.00 for four isn't totally outrageous. However, I have bought cheap stemmed wine glasses (real glass) for $1.00 a piece for a wine tasting party my wife and I hosted. $4.00 a piece is a bit much for the quality level of these glasses. I'm not sure I'd recommend them at this price.Update- I've had these glasses for six months and they have held up surprisingly well. I used them quite often and they look just like brand new. No stains, no scratches. I'm giving them one more star and removing my reservation about the price. They are worth it.
