I'm 40 and have been coveting one of these bougie brushes for at least 20 years. Never able to justify the expense, I have been using cheap boar+nylon brushes that wear out after a few years and need to be replaced. Upon first use, wow this brush definitely delivers a whole level up in terms of scalp stimulation. It feels amazing. Stands out for all the other brushes I've tried for scalp sensation. Gentle and effective on my long fine hair.I'll update you in a couple years and let you know how it holds up- for me, that will be what determines if it was worth the price.

Mason Pearson make AMAZING hair brushes, but check you receive the correct model!

These Mason Pearson brushes are AMAZING. I've had one for over 30 years that was a gift from my mother (the Mason Pearson men's 'Military' model - bristle & nylon mix), and it's still perfectly serviceable and brushes better than any other brush I've ever used. The price may appear shocking at first, but given the quality and longevity, it definitely amortizes out and is worth every penny - and then some.My daughter uses my brush all the time (so does my wife sometimes), so I decided to buy one for my daughter as a special present, same as I was given one as a kid. I wanted to get her the same bristle & nylon mix, but with the handle. That is the model being advertised here - model BN1 'Popular' model, and is supposed to be 9" long and 3" wide at the head, bristle and nylon mix, with 'popular' written on the handle near the head, and is also meant to include a separate cleaning brush, as shown on this Amazon page, and can be confirmed on the Mason Pearson site. What I have received FOUR TIMES now is the Mason Pearson B4 'Pocket Bristle' brush, which is only 6.75" long, is bristle only, no cleaning brush comes with it, and it sells separately on Amazon for exactly $100 less! I have contacted the seller and apparently it was 'investigated', but I was again sent the wrong brush, so I am now returning the 4th brush and I am giving up, but felt I needed to post for other buyers to check carefully that you are getting the correct item you paid for, and not something you can order here on Amazon for exactly $100 less.If you actually receive the correct brush, congrats, it's a great brush and will possibly serve you for many years to come. I was eventually able to buy the brush that was supposed to be sold here, and include a photo of it for reference.

Best Brush Ever!!!

These are the best brushes I have ever used! They last forever, you can will them to your grandchildren when you’re gone. The best quality brush you will ever buy. My mother used them, I didn’t think they were fancy enough for me. When I finally had two dollars to rub together, I bought mine and have never regretted it. If you want to take good care of your hair, this is how you do it.

An investment. I’ll use it until I die!

I have purchased three of these: one for me,One for travel, one for a teen granddaughter. We call these “the magic hair brush”. This is gentle on 70 year old head of hair and somehow seems to add volume while massaging my scalp. Clean as instructed. Do not use on wet hair.

Terrific boar hair brush combo worth the price for me

I have had the mason pearson brush for about 2 years now and I absolutely love the mix of boar and nylon in the brush! It holds onto my fine-medium hair beautifully and pulls down any scalp oil at my crown into my ends. I use this on day 1-3 hair only. If I can make it to day 3-4 hair or i use scalp oil I use an inexpesnive boar only brush. The mason pearson brush has rubber on the base that can detiorate over time with xposure to some oils and products.I do baby this brush. I clean it out of any hair every use. I sue the brush cleaning tool about 1x a week and I give the brush a full water and mild soap cleaning 1x every 2 months- being very veyr carful not to get any water into the hole and then letting the brush dry fully.Yes this brush is expensive. Is it worth it? Yes, for me it is worth it. I lose much less hair now with regular use and my har is absolutely looking and feeling more healthy over these 2 years. This feels so good on my scalp and it really pulls down the oils into my medium-long hair mids and ends.

Nice

I don’t think my previously bleached hair likes it very much but I feel fancy using it every day, it’s a little daily luxury for me. Unfortunately it doesn’t get to my scalp unless I section each part of my hair, so if you have thick hair you may have to try that. I use a “wet” brush when my hair is wet and the mason pearson when it’s dry. Don’t use this on wet hair

The Best Hair Brush-Worth Every Penny!

The absolute best hair brush ever made. My daughter loves hers, keeps it in her purse, uses it all the time on her waist-length hair. Yes, costly…but worth it. The last hair brush you will ever buy-unless you want one for the car!

Incredible Brush worth its weight in Gold

The boar bristles really are amazing. My wife can feel the difference with each stroke and it doesn’t cause the frizzy static. She loves it and is thrilled about how well it removes tangles while being the softer bristles.

Authentic seller

Product was authentic, very scratchy bristles on the head, but it’s semi therapeutic in a way. Smooth sturdy brush, we’ll see if it’s worth the price tag.

Bien

Just do it.

My first Mason brush was a gift twenty years ago. It took that long to wear out. My hair is long and this brush goes through tangles so gently. I knew I had to have another one, but balked at the price. I am so happy I treated myself to another one. There is not a better brush to be had.

Magic wand for hair

wasnt sure how great this thing would be — but it is phenomenalleaves my hair so shiny and yet so softnever had any other brush do anything like iti brush my hair dry with it once in the morning and once at night as recommended and my hair has never been healthier or happier — silky shiny and looks superi guess if you get one from england they are $100 less but idc — worth it to not have to fly overseas

If your hair is tangle prone buy this brush

I never thought a brush could be worth this much money, but once I got it I wished I had bought it years ago. I have extremely thick and long type 2B hair that tangles constantly. Most brushes can’t get all the way through to the scalp. This brush not only reaches my scalp, it takes about half as long as other brushes to do all my hair, nothing short of a miracle. It feels so amazing I find myself still brushing long after I’m done. If you’re on the fence, just buy it.

Agree with everyone else

It’s the best. It’s worth every penny. I lost mine and came to replace it here. It’s more expensive than it used to be but it’s the same quality as I always remember. No pulling, gets through the most tangly hair ever and does not hurt. I missed my brush when it went missing, so much so that I even bought a similar looking white brush on here but it just yanked my hair out and broke my strands. This investment is worth it. Since purchasing my replacement, I found my missing brush. I’m happy to have multiple brushes now because they’re that good and I never want to be without again. It sounds dramatic, but the reviews raving about this are true. So very true. A lot of people say to just buy it. Yes, it’s expensive. But once you get it; you’ll understand.

The best brush ever

I love this brush. It's pricey, and ridiculously so to some people. However, I spend a lot of money on skin care, clothing, shoes, etc. so it kind of makes sense that you would do the same for your hair. For review purposes, I have waist-length, thick, salt-and-pepper 2c hair with a tendency to frizz. I use this brush twice a day: in the morning and at night before I go to bed. Brushing your hair with a Mason Pearson feels sooo good it's crazy. It's like a nice little head massage! The mixed bristles on this brush are great for my hair; the nylon bristles help really get in there to the scalp, and the boar bristles do a great job moving those oils down your hair strands. I notice less shedding when I use this brush, and I feel like it helps smooth my hair better than the cheaper brushes I've owned. I do not use this when my hair is wet, and I also don't use products in my hair, so there's that. This brush also comes with a little brush cleaner and clear directions on caring for your Mason Pearson. I love the vintage look of the brush and the packaging, too! If you have a little extra money laying around to splurge on something just for you, I highly recommend this brush. It would make an excellent gift too.

IGNORE THE PRICE: For long, thick hair, it's best hairbrush ever!

I bought this hairbrush on Amazon in 2019 when I was 75, and wrote a review but just discovered I forgot to send it! So here it is, better late than never. About 30 years ago, I discovered this wonderful imported brush in a beauty shop and now I'm on my third one. (I also bought a smaller one for my purse.) Initially, I thought the price was outrageous but remembered the old adage "You get what you pay for" And I was not disappointed. At 79, I am fortunate to still have long, thick hair. If yours is similar, this brush is an absolute must, especially for complete maintenance and healthy hair. At first, you might find washing the brush via the dry method (with the included smaller brush) a little disconcerting, but it's essential to maintain the cleanliness of this marvelous hairbrush. A la Scarlett O'Hara, to maintain healthy hair, you must brush l00-200 strokes each morning and so on. And do it with a Mason Pearson hairbrush.

This brush is totally worth the hype!

So I have long (a few inches past my bra) hair that is very thick, and due to several factors, also very fine. This is a nightmare combo for detangling - I have recently been using the "Wet" brand detangling hairbrushes, but it still feels like I am ripping through my hair. Rake combs just don't get in-between the fine hair enough to properly detangle. I'll add in here that my hair & skin are chronically dry, and I seem to always have this section of hair about 3/4 down that is unmanageable, regardless of my split ends. Adding in product helps with detangling, but weighs my hair down.I researched this brand a bit after several friends recommended, and yes, it's more expensive than any hairbrush I've bought, but the company has a solid reputation for quality and it's warrantied for life. I actually found a MP brush in my grandmother's cabinet from decades ago & it's in perfect shape, even after being through dozens of kids & grandkids. This detangling brush goes right through my hair, detangles everything without product, and feels amazing on the scalp (and I have a sensitive scalp that is not a fan of bristly brushes). It's also fantastic for getting all of my hair up in a ponytail or bun (I have other MP brushes now, but this one really grips and holds all of my hair up without having to use any pressure - I smooth with the popular mixture brush after pulling up the hair with this one). I don't blow dry my hair, but I do get a respectable amount of volume when I brush it after it's air-dried a bit as well. The brush is solidly built, appears legit compared to my other MP brushes. The packaging is attractive, they've clearly retained their older branding & it stands out nicely - I'll definitely keep the boxes for travel or storage (also, keep your packaging & receipt because they are lifetime warrantied & you may be asked for it if you request repair/replacement). It comes with a nylon cleaning brush which does seem to work effectively. There was some red residue on the brush from the packaging insert, but it wiped off easily. If you have oily hair, or don't want the natural bristles in the other MP brushes, this would be a great everyday brush. It is enjoyable to use and gets right through my hair without pulling or snagging, whether my hair is wet or dry. It feels solid in my hand and is a handsome brush to look at. My hair is noticeably smoother than even a few days ago with almost no product. I've used cushioned paddle-style brushes before & this definitely has a softer hold. If you do blow-dry your hair, I probably would also incorporate a vented, non-cushioned brush to avoid damaging the MP brush with product or direct heat - but I've also got less need to blow dry after using this one.Overall, I really love this brush. I will probably also buy this for my long & curly-haired niece since it is that gentle of a detangler. The cost is absolutely worth is (as are the more expensive natural-bristled MP brushes), and it's a very effective brush that should last for years. It will need to be properly cared for (it should not be submerged b/c of the vented cushion and exposure to lots of product or heat will degrade the bristles & bed), but that's been the case with any high-quality beauty product. I've since bought other MP brushes & combs and have been similarly impressed.
