I have been using this shampoo for over 2 years to help maintain the color between visits to my hair dresser. I love it!Since it is a Semi permanenet hair color you do need to wear gloves and rinse your shower well. I get lots of complements on my hair. Make sure to follow the directions. It really saves me money because I do not see my hair dresser as often. I do not notice a smell. You may need to use a hair conditioner or some oil afterwards to keep hair really soft.
Love this product. Only takes 3 minutes to touch up hair that previously dyed at salon (note: it will only re-color hair that was bleached before dye added initially). Wear gloves while applying like a shampoo (wet hair first), wait 3 minutes and wash out (as long as water is on when wash out, shouldn’t stain shower). I always apply a color safe conditioner (prefer Aveeno) right afterwards. Pic is of hair streaks touched up by two separate 3 minute shampoos. Saves me $ on how frequent have to go to salon. As a reminder always use lukewarm water or color fades faster.
Wow, I didn't believe one shampoo could color my hair and I was wrong! I have hair that is going heavy grey with some blonde highlights. This shampoo in one wash left on for one minute left my grey hair pastel purple and took even darker on my blonde parts. I was very surprised. For me it would be too purple to use 2 wash days in a row, but if you are looking for a way to keep your color fresh this would be a great option. Also, it didn't stain my hands or skinBefore and after pics below

This shampoo works great at maintaining color. It will dye everything so be sure to wear a glove when applying to your hair. I gave it 4 stars because it dyes everything. My shower is now purple like my hair. It's also not very big, I use this every wash to maintain the color so I go through it quicker than normal. This shampoo works great at maintaining color. Does just what it’s supposed to
Obsessed with this product!! It added a nice lavender color to my silver hair after only one use.
Very satisfied with the color and easy to use. Lasts quite a few days and does not require much per use to work.
I’m torn on this review. I used the purple color depositing shampoo for Halloween and it turned out a really pretty purple. My natural hair is lightened to about a level 7 with highlights at a level 9. The highlights picked up a really intense purple, while the darker areas were less intense. I tried to wash it out the next day - less than 24 hours after applying. Even after using clarifying shampoo and lots of other tricks found online, it faded but didn’t fully wash out. Five days and more than a dozen washes later, I still have some light purple and pink color in my highlights. And the darker areas have retained enough color that they have an auburn cast now. I bought this thinking it was a good option for temporary color but if you’re looking for something that washes out easily this may not be for you.
This is the best color-depositing shampoo/conditioner I've found. As others have said, I do a quick shampoo with my normal shampoo for cleaning my hair. Then I use this and (lol) listen to Taylor's All Too Well 10 Minute Version while it is in and rinse towards the end of the song. Then I condition with my normal conditioner. My hair is purple and I last had it professionally dyed (Pulp Riot color) in early July. I use this every 2 weeks or so and am only now (sept. 23) thinking it is time to refresh my color wtih Pulp Riot.
I love this product, I grew my gray hair out a couple years ago, but miss the fun of adding color from time to time. Well, now I get to add a little bit of fun every couple of months. I don't keep it on longer than 2 minutes and it usually washes out within 4 washes. I do make sure to use a good moisturizing conditioner after, as well as my leave in serum, just because I've noticed it can dry out my hair a bit, nothing crazy, but because I don't really use many products on my hair, anything can cause noticable difference.
I love this product. I don't even go to the salon for color. I am grey haired for the most part, and this shampoo makes my hair color stunning! Strangers stop me and compliment me on the color of my hair. I do alternate between the purple and the steel gray for texture and depth of color... but it's amazing. Plus, it will wash out after about 3 washes so I can change it up when I want. How AMAZING!!
Great product! I tried arctic fox and strawberry leopard before trying this product. Both cost me just under $20, were messy to apply and faded with the first wash so reapplication was necessary after the first week. I wash my hair once a week. On a recommendation, I tried this stuff. And my hair has been vibrant purple for over a month now, and I’m still using the same bottle. You have to be careful to wash the color off the shower immediately. I do this while I let the color set. I usually wash my hair about three times and do a deep condition, as it is a little on the sting side. Overall, this is the best way to affordable keep my color.
I dye my hair a fuchsia color every 3-4 months and like all red, pink and purple colors it fades quickly. I’ve known for years color depositing shampoos are a good way to maintain color until it’s time to color it again. I’m presently coloring my hair with Got2B Sakura Pink which ends up looking fuchsia on my hair after I bleach it, but the color fades and starts to look dingy after about 6 weeks. I just started using this and so far it’s doing a great job of refreshing the pink tint so it looks newly dyed. I recommend this for anyone wanting to extend the life of a color job. In my experience it won’t deposit much color to untreated hair but it will add color when a base is there. The purple color is more fuchsia than the blueish purple the color shows. Highly recommended.
I bought this to color gray parts of my hair. It doesn't get into parts close to the roots very well so the color doesn't come out even, but I like this better than other products as it's easy to apply. Just shampoo and leave it on for a few minutes, no need of brush, cape, or long wait. That wins. This shampoo lather well so you need a small amount each time. The color is very light -- lavender rather than purple -- and it gets only slightly darker as you use every day. It probably won't get to dark purple as the bottle color may suggest. I wanted light color so this works for me. Shampoo doesn't cause dryness. Fragrance is okay. Reasonably priced. I like it overall. Just wish it'd color the roots better.
I recently got my hair colored to a dark brown with a mix of deep purple and spent quite the pretty penny on it. Obviously I wanted it to last a long time without having to give up my hot showers. My stylist recommended me this shampoo and Ive been using it for a little over 6 months and couldn’t ask for better results. I wash my hair every other day with this stuff and use it only on the length of my hair, not my roots. It keeps the color so vibrant and popping, people actually started to notice the purple hair more after using this shampoo. It is a little messy and can stain if your not careful, but even the stains wash away over time. The scent isn’t bad, but it’s not fragrant either. I’d recommend using a good deep conditioner along with this stuff too because it does tend to leave my hair slightly dry. I’d expect a purple tub while using this stuff though but it with the way it works i’d say it’s worth it!
I am waiting for my hair appointment in late July and I don't want to chemically treat it in the meantime. I combined this with some conditioner and worked it through my hair, covered it with a plastic cap and waited about 45 minutes to wash it out. It looks nice. Not as purple as you see on the picture, but it fills in the gaps. It does not cover any silver, gray, etc. I need to add, that over 2 weeks of using this, I have had a major break out on my shoulders and back, it's the only thing I've changed, I'm a very routine/regimented person, I use the same sunless products, makeups, cleansers, detergents, etc. So I have ruled them out. Since I only purchased it for temporary use, i know everything will clear up in a couple of weeks but I'll have to stop using it. If you are acne prone or have skin sensitivities, this may not be great for you.
First of all, I have a pixie cut and silver hair and that may make a difference. I purchased the purple. I have used it twice in the shower 2 days apart. The color is not drastic however, I know grey hair doesn't take color as well. I was really worried the first time due to all of the reviews that stated it stained everything so terribly, it did nothing, it dried out my hair, etc. I did not use gloves to shampoo it in. Yes, my hands were a pinky/purple color after I rinsed them but then I washed my face and body and rinsed everything off they were back to normal. I find if I rinse any color spots in my shower while I'm still in the shower all of the color rinses off easily. I make sure the color rinses down the drain and doesn't sit. I do use a leave-in conditioner. I love the color. I've used a few different color deposit shampoos and so far this is my favorite. I will continue to use it when I'm feeling like something fun!
